Hip Hop Congress Meeting 9.23.2008

Greetings All!
Welcome to the Hip Hop Congress - Ohio blog!

On August 23, 2008 the Ohio University and beginning Columbus Chapters met in Columbus, Ohio for the first statewide meeting. Unfortunately Cincinnati could not attend due to personal circumstance. Since the Cincinnati chapter could not attend OU and Columbus held the meeting with one another.
The following is what we discussed in the meeting.

Grants and Sponsorships
-How do we get them?
-Who can write them? Possible grant writer position.
-Who do we apply for grants and sponsorships through? (Redbull, Scion, other sources?)

Community Chapters
-How do we get the community chapter started?
-Types of opening events that would bring in the public for exposure of HHC-Columbus (i.e. concert with local artist, art gallery, writers blocks, etc.)
-How do we raise funds?
-How do we get contacts? (make a list of people we know at the surrounding campuses (UC & OSU>Hale Multicultural Center)
-Places to have events: CO-Bernie's, Old Fields, Skully's, Hi-5
-List of those within our respective chapters who would be willing to perform in CO, Cincy, and/or Athens. (for little to no cost)
-Other organizations within our respective communities we can collaborate with resulting in larger turnout, greater exposure, and support.
-Resources: Fliers - find a way to print fliers for free either through a job one may hold snaging office supplies or find the cheapest place to print around your city and copy them that way.

Listing of example events that have had success: (may be repeated this year)
