HHC-ALL OHIO MTG MINUTES

11.15.08

Cincinnati HHC
-History & Justice presentation > going into area schools and community teaching about Hip Hop culture and how the organizing works. Going from head to arms to legs to feet.

-Cincy connect to Hip Hop Political convention
-Civic engagement council
-Tiffany (Hakiym) Grant writing
-How to get money
-center for progressive leadership
-Having Cincinnati chap come down here
Creating a yearly budget
-creating itemized list of expenditures
-Reiterate its a non-profit
-Having money which is openly delegated
-Having programs hosted by a department but sponsored by us (HHC) or vise versa
-Who do we know in other Cities?
-going to people who are interested in joining HHC;
-Having one larger event Statewide to advertise as a whole
-How do you keep people interested?
-resume builder, paying them? Giving gratitude to the members
-By celebrating members: Thanking them for coming; Watching a movie;
educating on how to become socially and politically active. Making a list of free events OU does and sharing it with other chapters, making it cool and something that the members want to be at. Make people work for you. Places to collab with. Churches.
-Bringing people in from outside your chapter to show the rest of the campus and members that it is more than just them. Showing they are not the only representation of what Hip Hop Congress is 'Derrick”. Telling & Showing the members its more than just them. Sponsoring & Having money to cover our own cost such as gas
-Having more individual artist come connect by having less known artist
and one larger named individual.
-Hip Hop Congress getting on campus at University of Cincinnati
-Getting involved with community organizations
-Developing connections in Columbus – Roots High Power (CO-brings in different reggae artist.)
Make a list of events we know will work: contact J.Rawls helping to develop the university and things surrounding them. Finding individuals in OSU's government. Next, control the money.
Hip Hop Conference(local. Regional. in April lectures exhibitions to get more of the students engaged. In the works. Derrick organizing for UC. Possible connection to get the Cincinnati Chamber of commerce> to have involvement and make the city look good by bringing in people from out of town>Makes university look good b/c they are getting involved and having their name in the community.

Concert during OU Hip Hop Awareness week
Spring Concert on UC's campus> all ohio sources: Toledo, Akron, Cincinnati, Athens, Columbus, etc. Akron(advertising guys interested in doing something too).
> Having an hhc ohio mc battle to sponsor the winner on the all ohio tour.
> Immortal technique; talib Kweli; mos def; Hi-teck;
> April National poetry month; ends in cincinnati to kick off conference
